Chalk Paint shabby chic clothes rail

I picked up this great wooden clothes rail. Shame it was in horrible  varnished pine. 

 The only answer of course was Chalk paint

 After it was keyed very quickly using wire wool and then wiped down I chose old white to give it some nice love and attention!

 I gave it two coats of paint and then waxed it in clear wax. left it to dry and then polished it lightly.

 Added two hearts painted in  Another item I don't want to part with. Great for the Vintage craft fairs.

Take two old painted tables.

lightly sand down

Paint with two coats of  Chalk Paint we've used Evening Shadow. Then make your stencil..this one is made using our 

silhouette vinyl cutter

 Paint your letters in Cocos or similar  chalk paint.

Remove your stencil when dry carefully

Once it is dry you can wax it. Use two coats of clear wax leave ten minutes in-between coats and buff to finish

Promptly removed horrid wheat design and seat, forgot to take a photo of that.

FINISHED!!!

 I found some black velvet and recovered the seat..one problem, the same as usual, I want to keep it for myself!! Luckily I have 7 more to try in different colours and different finishes..

It's found it's way into my bedroom and matches in perfectly with the dressing table Steve made me earlier this year..

Now for the Next Project....

Wow what a busy week, as usual...doing a lot of work on the website dottydiva.com. Starting to add the

It was lightly sanded to provide a key and then painted in  coloured chalk paint and waxed with the dark wax!

Hi everyone just wanted to show you this old kitchen door we have painted.
1: We gave the door a light key with a fine grain sand paper.
2: Make sure the door is very clean and all grease is removed.
3: We then painted it with two coats of chalk paint
4: One section is dark wax and one section is light wax.

It really is that easy!

So another busy day... The weather was quite nice so managed to take some photos, Hopefully they are good enough for the website.
Had quite a few sales today for the  Chalk Paint, The name is getting about and need to re order already.

 Off to Southend tomorrow to talk about the website and have a few glasses of wine with Neil and Teresa who will be opening a B&B soon, the place will be filled with our furniture and some interior design tips will be given. Of course they will be using Chalk Paints.

An expensive weekend!

Well what a weekend! Managed to get my laptop stolen..I've taken photos for the blog and lost those too. So as soon as I can work out how to use this new laptop I will show you how the furniture is coming along.. so far I've lightly keyed the surface and painted one coat of Chalk paint mixed with a tiny amount of paint to add to the aged look.

The next stage...........Autentico Chalk Paints

         Have been trying out a few more paint finishes today and also looking after my niece and nursing a bad right hand!! Went to a networking meeting, met some very nice ladies!
        The big news for me is  managed to become the Autentico dealer for Margate, Whitstable and Canterbury on top of Maidstone and the surrounding area. Hopefully it's going to be work, work, work!!

        Decided to show just what the paints can do so first of all I'm going to start with two awful and unloved pieces. As soon as I can I will show you each stage. Tomorrow I have to work on the website and Thursday and Friday I'm going to work ( Hunker Down Daisy) so it wont happen over night!

Today started taking some new wooden hearts and furniture down to Headcorn Gifts. I love the hearts so much especially the Union jack one I didn't want to part with it. Then off to Lilly pie to see what stock they need for next week...Having the website updated but at the moment it isn't going to well. I know what I want but it's just not happening.
Hoping to take some new pictures tomorrow for the website and tidy my studio. Hope it is a nice day and I feel like it!
